If you want to work on creating and maintaining new and complex systems for simulation software, take ownership over those systems and think about full-stack solutions together with our domain experts, VSTEP has the perfect opportunity for you! 
 
Your role within the development team would be to work on the simulation core of our software solutions. Your tasks would be ranging from designing and implementing new systems to having a deep dive into our code base and finding optimizations. 
VSTEP provides a unique work environment for software engineers to work on real-time interactive simulation software that aims to train professionals in the maritime and response & safety industry. 
We work in smaller teams of each 3-6 software engineers that each have their own team lead. In a team with domain and usability experts and product/project engineers you will be providing the technical know-how and software expertise. Your input is most valuable as you can balance requirements, performance and complexity to aim for the best fit solution. 

Your daily activities will be: 
  • Designing and programming new simulation software components 
  • Debugging, bug fixing, analyzing problems and improving performance 
  • Assisting your team members and reviewing their code 
  • Giving input to project leaders and management regarding your specialization   

Is this you?
You have: 
  • At least 3-5 years of solid programming skills in C++ and/or C# (or other comparable modern OO programming languages) 
  • Experience with real-time 3D engineslike Unity, Unigine or Unreal. 
  • A track record of getting stuff done 
  • Preferably affinity with graphics programming and/or experience in shader languages like HLSL 
  • Preferably good knowledge of mathematics or physics 
  • An example of projects or open-source code that you’re proud of  
  • Any other evidence of your passion for building great software 
 
You are: 
  • Interested in a broad range of systems that form our simulation software, from mathematical model to tooling 
  • A team player who is also able to work independently  
  • Pro-active and eager to get to the bottom of things 
  • Open and outspoken about software quality 
  • Willing to learn to work with our software platform 
  • Fulltime available and eligible to work in the Netherlands
